Covid-19 Relief Efforts

Stepping up for our Community
The Salem Health Foundation has funded several initiatives to help battle this deadly virus:
- $279,000 worth of ventilators for Salem Health. Ventilators are a critical tool in helping our seriously ill community members survive COVID-19.
- $140,000 toward the purchase of vitally important personal protection equipment (PPE) to protect our healthcare staff.
The Salem Health Foundation has joined with community partners to support the start up of Alluvium, a new mobile response unit. Ran by volunteer healthcare professionals, these clinicians provide mobile healthcare and referrals for people who would otherwise use critical emergency personnel and services.
In partnership with the Salem Fire Department and Falck Ambulance, Alluvium will respond to community members who are displaying COVID-19 symptoms not severe enough to require care at the emergency department.
The innovative trial effort offers additional in-home support to the most vulnerable people in our community. ER and Fire Ambulance crews would be able to move more quickly to the next emergency call, leaving a non-emergency call to Alluvium heroes.
Support of our courageous Healthcare staff with resiliency efforts:
- Coffee gift cards
- Partnered with Nutrition Services to expand services to include grab-n-go meals & pantry staples to take home
- Subscription to an app for guided meditation and mindfulness to help with stress management
