Caring for Kids
When children are admitted to the hospital, they often face procedures such as lab draws and IV starts that can be painful. These procedures are potentially traumatic, but pediatric nurses are experts trained to minimize fear and trauma in children.
Providing a scared child with a stuffed animal to hug while the procedure is happening acts as a distraction and helps build trust with health care providers. The support of donors helps to provide stuffed animals, a great source of comfort to our littlest patients.
The fund provides many services such as new parent support, education, supplies and initiatives. One example is the the car seat program which ensures each child is sent home safely.
